The Umoja Ushongo Motherfund is an impact fund passionate about regenerative, businesses, communities & initiatives that nourish the people and our planet.
Umoja Ushongo is a Collaborative Force for Planetary Wellbeing
Out of all places, why Ushongo and Tanzania?
In the heart of East Africa, Tanzania is a prophesized land for peace on Earth in times of global change. Tanzania continues to stand apart as an “eye in the storm” of current socio-political turmoil, embodying an ancient Mayan prophecy that Mt. Kilimanjaro would stand as a landmark and stronghold of peace for the planet during times of ‘breakdown for breakthrough’, coined by Mona Rabie (Founder of the Together Temple, Co-Founder of the Together Movement). This is a part of our path, embodying the new.
Within the divine symphony at play, it is important that we all work with resonate partnerships and teammates to fulfill our roles from a place of joy and ease. Just as the Umoja Motherfund should feel like a unique fit for you as an impact investor, the fund itself is also very conscious and selective with its partners for the sake of alignment & wellbeing as our local to national and regional to global community grows. We know that to go quickly, one may go alone, but to go far, we must go together.
Likewise the giraffe (known as “Twiga” in Swahili) is our animal totem representing community leadership throughout Umoja Ushongo. A symbol of Tanzania, the giraffe is rooted to the land but stands tall in its bird’s eye vision, clarity, autonomy, grace, and wisdom. The giraffe represents our mutual responsibility to shepherd the future of humanity by championing more heaven on earth with steadfast vision and cooperation.
After all, our truest power is sourced in the power of our hearts. And our hearts have found us in Ushongo, Tanzania. Ushongo Beach is a unique place in the world — a remote coastline where the small fishing village prevails in its traditional ways while international residents and tourists also enjoy frequent visits, fostering acceptance and potentiality. On the mainland of Mama Africa (Merita / Alkebulan* ) and only an hour and half boat ride from Zanzibar, Ushongo is unlike anywhere else. Its untouched nature presents an opportunity for ‘conscious commerce’ to emerge and its smaller size allows for prototyping eco-village possibilities, as does its friendly and caring people.
*Africa is a Western name given for the continent, not an indigenous name. Alkebulan, an initial indigenous name for the continent means ‘Garden of Eden’ or ‘Mother of Mankind’. Merita is another indigenous name (‘Our Beloved Land’) rooted in Ubuntu principles.
Umoja Ushongo and its Umoja Motherfund is a puzzle piece within a larger a divine mission for collective healing and planetary ascension — prioritizing the ultimate wellbeing of all. With plans to put a percentage of all business profits back into the community via the Umoja Motherfund, we empower green initiatives, infrastructures & businesses via microloans. Umoja Ushongo will support our community’s ability to embody and example a new socioeconomic paradigm of prosperity for all — focusing on Ushongo residents. Umoja Ushongo and its foundation arm (UU Village) is a proud and proactive shareholder within a larger, global ecosystem choosing to embody more heaven on Earth.
Rooted in the heart, built upon the principles of Ubuntu (Bantu), and guided by Unity Consciousness, we are a community-centered force supporting everyone to follow their unique joys and talents for healthy ‘gifting and receiving’ between one another & the planet. With regeneration as our priority in all the we do, Umoja Ushongo is pro abundance & regenerative sustainability as a coherent, united, harmonic, humanitarian & planetary force that is collectively uniting & rising as one (a rising tide lifts all ships).
As they say, it takes a village — and we are one.

Umoja Wellness
Wellness Market (Soko Mshindi)
This is where it all begins. The marketplace is where artisans and service providers of all kinds gather together and intersect to sell what they do best, providing goods and services while creating prosperity and income across sectors.
Gathering conscious, regenerative, organic products around the country, we plan to start product production from Ushongo, Pangani to offer to the marketplace and ground our brick-and-mortar shop here in Ushongo. With the goal of becoming a fully regenerative eco-village, the marketplace would fuel conscious consumption to replace toxic shopping items. This would also allow us to partner with Umoja Farming and host a weekly farmer’s market. Considering the marketplace, we plan to build a neighboring makerspace to develop vocational skillsets while simultaneously producing local products. Tied into the Umoja Ushongo Hub, this would allow us to offer locally run, educational, DIY workshops for interested visitors keen to learn as well.

Umoja Ushongo Hub
Wellness Sanctuary & Hub
This is where we all meet up, where each initiative continues to tie together as a part of the larger whole — with visions of eco-yurts, a beachfront juicery (preferably cold-pressed), a community cafe with nutritional bites, and a farmer’s market alongside our conscious marketplace that provides natural products for wellness services. Likewise, we plan to develop a makerspace aligned with the Umoja Wellness Market and offer workshops for local product production, learning skills like how to make sea moss gel or coconut milk/oil. With our sailboat, we plan to kick off “wellness & watersports” services with a focus on sailing, snorkeling, and eventually kayaking, paddleboarding and kite surfing. Gathering from near and far, we plan to build glamping accommodations to go with our overall community space to gather & grow together. Especially with the children in mind, we we would like to bring in various musical instruments into the community and its hub.
Umoja Ushongo’s Wellness Sanctuary will be an ideal destination for transformative, healing, conscious wellness retreats of all kinds, including eco- and voluntourism as well as conscious business retreats and gatherings to go greater together. -
Umoja Farming
Regenerative Farming (Umoja Kulimo)
Umoja Farming is a regenerative movement getting to the ‘root’ of it all: the soil and healthy harvests (or the ocean and health of its edible ecosystems). Healthy soils generate healthy foods, healthy herbal remedies, healthy lands, healthy water systems, health people and a healthy planet. We are starting with a modest garden, incorporating a variety of plants and animals one step at a time and hope to continue expansion and develop further into product development — tying into the farmer’s market with Umoja Wellness.
Speaking of healthy soils and conscious products, we are learning the art of composting as we go. This is something we would like to further educate our local community about, host workshops to do so, speak to carbon sequestration, explore vermicomposting, and potentially sell local compost while encouraging local mulching.
Another element of Umoja Farming, includes the dream of horses, who would not only assist with the family and community farming, but also be able to offer beach rides, therapy sessions, and character buiding opportunities to visiting and community members, connecting to the offerings of our Umoja Ushongo Hub. -
Umoja Production
Local Products (Umoja Uzalishaji)
Umoja Production is where Umoja Ushongo begins to manufacture, produce, and present its own products to the Tanzanian marketplace, focusing first on coconuts and then later seaweeds/sea moss, to be followed by further possibilities.
The first coconut products include: coconut water, coconut milk, powdered coconut milk, coconut cream, coconut flower, coconut soap, coconut shampoo, coconut lotion bars, coconut all-purpose cleaner, and coconut-based laundry bar/powder.
In the construction of Ushongo’s first makerspace, factory and warehouse, we want to be sure to do so regeneratively and sustainable — powered by off-grid solar systems, natural drinking water, and other viable considerations.
